KINDERGARTEN ART
3-D Shapes
Now we are working on 3 dimensional works of art. Students identified the 3D version of a 2D shape. We made clay bears by forming a series of spheres in different sizes. Students learned where clay comes from, how to form it into a ball and attach pieces together. We are also making snails by rolling coils which are long, skinny cylinders.

2-D Shapes
We are working on creating works of art using shapes.
After looking at the artwork of Grandma Moses we discussed how the artist showed time and weather and the shapes that are used to make the objects in the paintings.
Students worked on their coloring skills to color in a variety of geometric shapes to be used in their projects. We cut those shapes out and assembled them to create a collage of houses and trees for their winter picture. We added details and snow to make it look more interesting.

In Kindergarten, we have been busy learning about the elements of color, shape and lines. We have been looking at the colors of the rainbow, learning how to use our paints properly (ask them how the paint brush is like a ballerina) and exploring our cutting skills. We have also been focused on drawing, painting and cutting different kinds of lines. Our next projects will focus on shapes, primary and secondary colors and more cutting!!
I am so excited to begin our journey in art with you! The Kindergarten art program is designed to introduce students to the joys of creating and appreciating art. We will meet for 45 minutes every 6 days. Students will experience art making as both an individual and collaborative activity. Our kindergarten artists will explore art through a variety of learning experiences. We will explore the Elements of Art and use a variety of materials to create original works of art and make connections between art and other disciplines. We will work on developing our fine motor skills through drawing, coloring, painting, cutting, gluing and sculpting. Most of all, we will have tons of fun creating!
